St. Christoforos Papoulakos
Journalist and theologian Dionysis Makris offers a clear and thoughtful study of several prophecies attributed to the newly canonized Saint Christoforos Papoulakos (1770–1861). He observes that as early as 1850, the Saint seemed to foresee events that mirror the crises of our own era. Among these insights is a striking warning that Makris notes could be understood as an early reference to the future emergence and destructive potential of nuclear weapons, a remarkable anticipation for his time.
“That this lord therefore may safely satiate his gluttony, and may without fear live by the rule of fornication.”
He said back in 1850. What is happening, does he have any, or does the Saint know what will be done today, how timely they are.
“The man whose rule is the Word of Christ has no need of such Satan’s medicine. For he is neither a plunderer, nor a fornicator, nor an adulterer, nor a thief, nor a liar, nor a short-sighted man. He is not proud.” My Dimitrakis, he is not proud.
“And therefore he cares not to shorten the time, nor to shorten the place. All these are the tarlets of Satan, who continually watereth the tree of pride and deceiveth man. The steamboats and the creepiest machines that the planter will carve out man’s mind are not roads that will give him the joy of the heart and peace of soul. And the more he finds the nearer he will feel the coldness of death.”
To whom he says this, to the great and the rich.
“And the day will come when the cup of iniquity shall be filled with such iniquities that the earth instead of being a paradise.”
This is what the Saint says. “Shall become Sodom and Gomorrah.”
When did he say it? In 1850.
“There will be a day when the cup of iniquity is drained from such iniquities.”
Fornications, adulteries, thefts and all the rest, homosexuality, supernatural sins and then he says; “that the earth instead of becoming paradise will become Sodom and Gomorrah. Terrible and horrible will be the end of the world of pride.”
You hear me, lords, you are damned lords for following the pseudo-Roman.
“All these things are like ornaments to a man of sorrows. The ornaments, however, of the body of the stoned man neither sweeten pain nor unmake death. If our soul be robbed, if our heart be stony, if our life pour out lies and poison, lie, robbery, fornication and the like become her medicine and rule idleness to what good it to narrowing of place and the time. Don’t be fooled by such nonsense. The awakening that follows this harlotry is hell.”
Whether we call it hell, climate change or war. I don’t know how it comes.
“Beware my brothers and sisters, for there are bright days of life awaiting us, days that will not be distinguishable from the tar. We are waiting for a candle that a smile will not bloom like human lips and all iron of the earth and fire of the world will hang over our heads.”
What is hanging over our heads today? The iron, he says, of the earth and the fire of the world.Nuclear weapons? You think Vasilis, is he talking about nuclear weapons in 1850. Vassili, he talks about nuclear weapons!
“Therefore, let us not seek a remedy where there is no remedy and let us return as quickly as possible to the path of Christ who calls us to salvation and to joy and to rest. The literate of the nation enslaved to the freemasons of the seal.” I don’t say this! Faithful Christoforos says it.
Who made him a Saint? The Patriarch. Now. He didn’t read these because he reads others now. If he has read these yet, the faithfull Christoforos would have waited a century. But in the conscience of the faithful he is a Saint. He performs miracles. He was not needed by the Patriarch. If the Patriarch were to read this, he would not proceed with it. I’m telling you. I sign it. And with indelible ink, so that it does not go away there are also inks that go away. As soon as the signature is gone and the other leaves, the ink runs out. Fades away.
“The literate of the nation enslaved to the freemasons of the seal have become totally crooked and instead of seeing in all this the future destruction of the nation they reckon that it will save us. The men who rule us have lost their light and do not know the difference between darkness and light. We falsified the scales that once measured good and evil. The truth and the lie. The devil in a thousand forms is with us. I do not say that if the crown of the nation were worn by the Orthodox king, then it was Othonas and, if the Church were to continue in her eternal way, that sin would be absent. But I say that we would have the means to distinguish them and not confuse them with the good. Now we are not only confusing things, but the good is also drowned in its sea of sin.”
Papoulakos had someone somewhere looked a person straight in the eye and he said, you are right he told him. The man asked him something.
“It does no good to cry. What is needed is a new uprising, a new St. Lavra and a new Psara added Kosmas. This enemy, Satan, is worse than the Turk. He never hid from us that he counted us slaves, but this man deceives us that we are free, while he has enslaved our souls even. Satan has a great kingdom on earth. He has kings, chariots, squids, yokes and yokes in his hand that can only be drowned in our blood. If they receive.”
Hear what he says; “if they receive.” I’ll put it another way; “if we receive new martyrs in our blood, no ocean is so deep and so wide to drown so much sin!”
Here is the connection of sin with nature. Did you understand him ? Let me say it again. St. Christoforos says it.
“Those of us who set out must know that our path has no turning back.”
What he tells them about rising up. What is rebellion. Not to take up arms and go to parliament. But take other weapons. The weapon of faith, of prayer, of trust in God, then your prayer yours and the fervor towards God will pass into the parliament as well. The demons will tremble and flee. That is, holiness of life, which today we have put in a secondary phase. We do not want to become holy.
“As a guide we have St. Kosmas the Aetolian. He is our bright star and his footsteps. In his footsteps we match our steps. Christ needs apostolic witnesses and without them the seed may not perish but the tree will wither. Until the elect arrive to water the seed of the Gospel.”
This is it. He is waiting for the elect too. For them to water the seed of the Gospel and for the tree to begin to blossom and bear fruit again. And when does the tree bear fruit? When we have new Saints. Thank God!
“The rulers talk about the enlargement of Greece, for armies and for glory, and none of them suspect that enlargement that is not founded on pure life does not give but false and temporary joy.”
Did you understand this ? This is true for all of us. When we want to grow up about substances one another and these, growing up, does not grow up unless it is based on the Word of God. In the will of God. For a father when he sees his child and lives in love that is he lives in Christ because Christ is love and he lives in the word of God then he trusts him and says take the next field and cultivate it because you are in my will. Did you get it ? And someone should... your love for God if you think it is right, to open the eyes of Athens, the eyes of the rulers of Athens and tell her that sooner or later if she carries this same trope, this is said for Mitsotakis of that time and we say it for Mitsotakis of our time and for the rest, the world will rise either with Christoforos Papoulakos or with someone else, or even by itself, as St. Paisios has said, some people will rise up, he says, and they will enter in the parliament, if you name it so... let it go “Because more than bread, the world thirsts for truth and he loathes the quarrels with honest and Christian lords who will truly care about them, they could suffer even the greatest hunger and the more unbearable poverty, when he sees that the deprivation is his only lot so that the few, the atheists, the antichrists, the neglected, the loan sharks and thugs to nurture a financial life, then it mutates into a boiling cauldron and that one day it will shake its lid and the scalding water will burn green and dry together, I will leave Kalamata” he says, “Because it is wintering and from there I will see and plan my course.”
These are from the brochure of the Orthodox Kypseli editions that I read to you, they are awakening bitter truths gleaned from the book “ O Papoulakos” by Kosti Bastia This says Christoforos, the Saint Christoforos the faithfull Christoforos Papoulakos who was an Co-Apostole, Apostole, chosen of God.
